Eligibility Criteria
You must be between 21 and 38 years old,
With a BMI less than 31,
And at least one healthy pregnancy without complications,
With full-term delivery.
You must not have had more than 5 pregnancies,
No more than 3 c-sections,
And fewer than 2 miscarriages or terminations
You must have a stable home environment with adequate support
Be financially stable, without the use of government support programs
Agree to and be able to pass a psychological evaluation
You and your partner must be non-smokers, with limited use of alcohol, and no use of drugs, including marijuana
No tattoos or piercings within the last 12 months
And, ultimately, pass an in-person medical evaluation.
How are eligibility criteria set?

Health
Those who have experienced pregnancy complications such as pre-eclempsia and postpartum hemorrhage are not eligible. Research shows that women who experience these complications are more likely to experience them again in later pregnancies, and that’s not a risk we will encourage surrogates to take. Your families matter to us.

Ethics
Only someone who has experienced pregnancy, delivery, and post-partum recovery can fully understand the toll it takes on your body and mind, and can fully consent to the surrogacy experience. For this reason, our surrogates are all already mothers.

Safety
We perform background checks on our surrogates and any adults living with them to ensure they live in a safe and stable environment that will be supportive of a surrogacy pregnancy.

Success
Many fertility clinics have their own criteria for surrogates, such as BMI. We have aligned our standards to match the clinics, so that surrogates are not disqualified later in the process for preventable reasons.

The process begins with your intake questionnaire and thorough vetting by the Cove Family Co. team. This includes a background check, medical records gathering and review, and psychological screening. If a candidate is moved forward for matching with intended parent(s), she will then undergo medical screening through a fertility clinic, who will make the final determination about her suitability for surrogacy.

Initial vetting by Cove Family Co. - 1 to 3 months
Match with Intended Parent(s) - 1 to 3 months
Medical vetting with fertility clinic - 1 to 2 months
Embryo Transfer - 2 months per attempt, up to 3 attempts
Pregnancy to Term - 40 weeks
Postpartum recovery - 6 weeks minimum

Compensation is informed by a variety of factors including location and experience. First time surrogates will typically request a base compensation of $55k - $65k, and experienced surrogates can request up to $100k. Journey compensation also includes contingency compensations, such as multiples or C-sections, maternity clothing allowances, childcare allowances, and other benefits.

Informed consent - We encourage you to educate yourselves on the joys and the risks of a surrogacy journey, and will assist you in doing so.
Life insurance - None of our surrogate candidates will ever start a cycle medication without a life insurance policy. Your families matter to us.
Health insurance - Your existing policy will be evaluated for suitability, or a policy will be placed for you by the intended parents. Your gift should not take you out of pocket.
Legal - You will have your own legal representation during the journey.
