 FAQs

  • Compensation varies based on a variety of factors including location and experience. First-time surrogates typically request $55k - $65k. Experienced candidates can range in compensation up to $100k. We’ve seen hundreds of surrogate compensation requests and can help educate you on setting your base fee.

  • Base compensation is your fee and will be paid in monthly installments after pregnancy confirmation as outlined by your legal contract. The benefits package is inclusive of journey milestone payments, maternity clothing allowance, childcare allowances, lost wages, contingencies specific to your journey, and other perks.

  • We recommend you speak to a tax expert in your state.

  • Your journey costs will be covered by the intended parents, held securely in escrow, and administered with the oversight of your agency and the escrow company. You will even receive allowances to cover things like maternity clothing in the journey! We do recommend you keep track of any receipts for small fees incurred, such as parking when travelling for appointments, so that they can be submitted for reimbursement.

  • The agency is such an important partner in the process: they support candidates through screening, vet them for suitability, align surrogates with intended parents, manage medical screenings, arrange logistics for embryo transfer, and can help smooth over any communication issues that may pop up in the journey. After delivery, they also crucially serve as the surrogate’s support system in the post-journey transition. The intended parents pay the agency’s fees for these services.

  • The agency will assist the intended parents with establishing insurance coverage for you, whether that is a personal plan of your own that is determined to be surrogacy-friendly or a policy purchased specifically for the journey. This will be at no cost to you.
